About John Hudson Trailers

A family run business since 1959

John Hudson Trailers is a privately owned, family company of over 60 people operating on a 7-acre site at Bawtry. We have the largest specialised trailer hire fleet in Europe and have been trading continuously since 1959.

We buy, sell, and rent HGV / LGV specialised trailers. Over half of our fleet are semi low loader, extending, and non-extendable step frames and detachable neck low-loaders. Our fleet includes flats, platforms, curtainsiders, drop frame machinery carriers, extenders, step extenders and multi-axle low loaders. Our specialised low loader fleet is mainly comprised of trailers made by Broshuis and our standard fleet of trailers by Montracon, SDC, and Dennison.

Our goals are to enable UK and international hauliers to:

Our history

1959

John Hudson Trailers history began in 1959 when Harold John Hudson established the company at Branton, originally as an Albion Truck dealer.

1959

We moved to the current Bawtry site where we are still located.

1969

Chris Hudson joined the team. Chris is pictured above (centre) next to Harold John Hudson (2nd from left).

1970

John Hudson Trailers became a Leyland Trucks distributor.

1977

John Hudson Trailers partnered with Broshuis Holland.

1987

Leyland Trucks merged with DAF and we decided to concentrate the business on the sale and hire of trailers.

1995

John Hudson joined the team.

2008

John Hudson Trailers became an official DVSA Authorised Testing Facility.

2012

New VOSA Test Bays and HGV Test Centre Open.

2016

Launched the brand-new head office revamp with new open plan office layout and reception.

2020

John Hudson Trailer bought Tees Valley Trailers, adding 5 new employees to the team and 500 trailers to the fleet.

2020

John Hudson Trailers became the official UK distributor for Definitive CLM heavy duty aluminium trailer ramps.

2022

Charlie Hudson, 4th generation of the Hudson family, joined the team.

The end of an era as the Café is demolished to make space for our ever-growing fleet.

2024

The launch of our brand new website to showcase the range of trailers for hire and sale.
